Having visited France a number of times ourselves, this journal evokes vivid memories of all we love about that wonderful country - the superb food and wine, the iconic landmarks and, most of all, the unexpected local 'finds' - people and places - that are always such a delight.Add to that the usual mix of the frustrations of driving, the fear of being totally lost - again - and fun with the language and you have a very enjoyable read.
Importantly though, this book also gave me plenty of motivation - and more than a few excellent suggestions - in planning our own next trip to la belle France.

I ended up not finishing this book. I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't what I was expecting. This was more of a guide for traveler's, not what I consider to be a memoir. It was okay, but just not what I was looking for.
Having visited France a number of times ourselves, this journal evokes vivid memories of all we love about that wonderful country - the superb food and wine, the iconic landmarks and, most of all, the unexpected local 'finds' - people and places - that are always such a delight.
Add to that the usual mix of the frustrations of driving, the fear of being totally lost - again - and fun with the language and you have a very enjoyable read.
